Helping Today. Helping Tommorow

We aim to clean the areas of northern and eastern Syria from the remnants of war and planted mines and rehabilitate those areas to be stable, safe and free of explosive materials. It also aims to spread awareness among civilians through sessions and instructions on how to deal with explosive materials to reduce the risk of mines and the occurrence of the victims, in light of the principles that guarantee the safety and security of citizens stipulated in the instruments of “Geneva Call” organization to combat anti-personnel mines signed by local bodies and institutions.

Who We Are

A local, non-governmental, non-profit organization that specializes in mine clearance and awareness of the dangers of mines. Its activity is concentrated in the north and east of Syria. It was established at the end of 2016 by a group of people with experience in the field of demining with a work team of no more than ten people. It began to expand with local support and with simple capabilities in the form of donations until it established relationships at the local and international levels by the end of the year 2017.

In 2017, we received support from the local organization “Shar Development” to start the MRE project, where the partnership was the first of its kind between two local community service organizations to launch the MRE project.

Then we signed a contract with MAG International. It included covering part of the administrative costs and salaries for the demining team and two outreach teams. The contract lasted for more than a year. Subsequently, a partnership contract was signed with the Internal Security Forces, which was a training program for members of the Internal Security Forces, with the support of the International Coalition, where more than 950 deminers graduated over the course of one year, and we also received support in the form of equipment and mine detectors from SOA “Spirit Of America”.

And at the end of 2018, a partnership contract was signed with HAMAP, a French organization, where we got the support that includes all the organization’s requirements from salaries and expenses, the contract lasted for two years until the end of September 2020.

Based on the foregoing, Rogge is reliable and scalable as the staff of RMCO is highly qualified and certification MRE and MREs hold provided by MAG International and trainers from HAMAP that prove the competence of the staff working in the organization Roj, as they have great Achievements and unique steps that proved themselves in the period of crises and wars over the course of four years, as its activities continued to expand and move from one city to another to make them safe and mine-free areas in the north and east of Syria, where it began with the main headquarters in Ras al-Ain, a city in northern Syria.

It is located on the Syrian-Turkish border strip and continued there for two years by removing mines in all villages, districts and areas along the border strip in the footsteps of the liberated areas, as it was one of the first to arrive in the liberated areas from the abomination of terrorism towards the west to the city of Ain Issa, where it opened a branch in the village Shirkrak 5 km northeast of the city of Ain Issa to expand its activities to the city of Tal Abyad and Raqqa and its countryside until the end of 2019 and as a result of the Turkish attacks on the city of Tal Abyad and Ras al-Ain to the outskirts of Ain Ai RMCO and its villages, including the village of Shirkrak, which led to the organization’s move from its headquarters to the new headquarters, where RMCO incurred heavy losses in equipment, devices, archives and vehicles, so that the organization later took a new headquarters at the beginning of 2020, which is the current headquarters in the village of Umm Al-Khamayel, 12 km south Al-Hasakah city.

Roj Mine Control Organization is the only local organization that bears the duty to remove mines and raise awareness of their dangers with a local cadre that includes both sexes and all nationalities of the region, as it has not stopped its activities despite all the circumstances it has gone through and the lack of capabilities and financial support, and recently completed its activity within the schedule organized and taking into account health and preventive methods since the beginning of the outbreak of the Coronavirus, and it remained the only effective organization in this field despite the absence of all organizations related to mine clearance activities during 2020.
